I recently got this recipe from, of course,
Smitten Kitchen. It's great! I don't think I can call my cake St. Louis Gooey Butter Cake. I didn't have corn syrup. I freaked out for a few minutes and realized I did have some form of syrup, Maple syrup. I thought it came out pretty well. It wasn't as gooey as I thought it'd be. I've never had this cake before, and didn't know what to expect. I'm thinking since the name is "Gooey," the maple syrup didn't help the gooey-ness. So my cake is probably not a traditional Goeey Butter Cake. It was still great though!
